Shelby Lee Wyles, 77, of Fannett, died Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Beaumont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born December 26, 1936, to Maude and Benjamin David Wyles, Sr., and had been a resident of the area since 1956. Shelby was owner of A Merry Go Round Daycare in Nederland for eighteen years and known as “Mr. Shelby.” He also worked for James River as a Systems Material Manager and retired after twenty- eight years of service. Shelby will always be remembered as a man that loved the Lord, cherished his family and adored his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-one years, Charlene Wyles of Fannett; son, Randy Wyles and his wife, Gwen, of Atlanta Georgia; daughter, Cindy Wyles of Orange; step-child, Michelle Simoneaux of Nederland; grandchildren, Christopher Wyles, Brycen Swanson and Valerie and Alexa Diaz; great-granddaughter, Taylor Wyles; sisters, Clara Fults of Orange and Nell Hardie of Jonesville, Louisiana; and brothers, Dee Wyles and his wife, Sarah, of Pearl, Mississippi, Gordon Wyles of Jonesville, Louisiana and Jay Wyles of Arkansas. He will especially be missed by his faithful four-legged companion, Mali.
Shelby is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joy Wyles; brother, Earl Wyles; and step-son, Mitchell Simoneaux.
A gathering of Mr. Wyles’ family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2014, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
