ORANGE — George Henry Kevlin Parham of Belize, formerly a resident of Orange, died on November 1, 2012 in Houston, Texas. Born in Belize on November 2, 1920, George moved to the U.S. and served in the Navy in World War II. He lived in Orange from 1945 to 1977 with his wife, Nina, with whom he had 4 children: Mary, Iris, Michael, and Gail. George retired from Allied Chemical in 1977 and moved to Belize where he built a hotel on Ambergris Caye. He is survived by his wife, Marie Parham; his three daughters, sons-in-law Tim Hagerty, Ed Swarbrick, and John Rexses; his grandchildren, Kevlin Hagerty, Blythe, Maria, and Hannah Parham; Alexandra and Caitlin Rexses; Erin Swarbrick; and one great-grandson, Jace Hagerty. George attended St. John’s College in Belize and Lamar State College of Technology in Beaumont. He was a multifaceted man: intelligent, witty, and hard-working, fisherman/hunter extraordinaire, sometime poet, and beloved father. He was proud of his family heritage and his “paradise” in Belize. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
