ORANGE — Opal Louise Cain Smart, 83, of Deweyville, TX passed away Friday, March 22, 2013 in Conroe, TX.

She was a native of Wolfe City, Texas; born on December 22, 1929 to parents Myrtie Hardy Humphries and James Henry Humphries. Opal had lived in Deweyville for forty years and was a faithful and active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Deweyville. Opal loved picking berries, canning and making jelly. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She loved spending time with her family and will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Humphries; brother, William E. Humphries.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Daniel Lee Smart of Deweyville, TX; children, Carolyn Sullivan and husband, Dale of Kodak, TN, James “Tip” Cain and wife, Mary of Conroe, TX, Melanie Mefford of Covington, LA, Kimberly Pearce and husband, Byron of Kennedale, TX; step children, Kelly Smart and wife, Annette of Deweyville, TX, Dana Wilbur of Deweyville, TX, Angela Smart of Deweyville, TX, Lee Smart and wife Lynette of Fredericksburg, VA; brother, James “Konnie” Humphries and wife, Shirlene of Vidor, TX. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and a host of friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, March 25, 2013 from 5 pm until 8 pm at Dorman Funeral Home. A final viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 9:00 am to 10:45 am. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 11 am at the funeral home, with Rev. John Fortenberry officiating. Burial will follow at King Cemetery in Hartburg, TX.
