ORANGE — Lillian Viola Simmons, 84, born May 2, 1929, in Deweyville, Tx. to parents Nolan and Grace Spears passed away February 27, 2014, in Pasadena, Tx, where she had resided for 45 years.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Victor Donnell Simmons of Pasadena, Tx.; by her parents, Nolan and Grace Spears of Deweyville, Tx.; by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Scriv and Eulice Simmons of Orange, Tx.; by her brothers, N.L. Spears, Rogers Spears, and Mickey Spears; and by her sister Judy Spears, all of Deweyville, Tx.
She is survived by her daughter, Becky Simmons of Pasadena, Tx.; by her son, Mike Simmons of North Little Rock, Ar.; by her daughter, Janis Gartman and husband Bud of Deer Park, Tx.; by her grandson, Ben Gartman and wife Tabatha of Fordyce, Ar.; by her great-granddaughter, Lydia Gartman of Fordyce, Ar.; by her sisters, Pat Brister of Deweyville, Tx., Joy Lummus of Deweyville, Tx., Elaine Hanner and husband John of Deweyville, Tx.; by her brothers, Paul Spears and wife Barbara of Mauriceville, Tx., Tommy Spears and wife Estelle of Deweyville, Tx.; sister-in-law Melba Nation of Orange, Tx., numerous nieces, nephews, and many loving family and friends.
Lillian was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved birds and flowers, enjoyed working in the yard, and gardening. She also loved sports, especially The Houston Rockets, Baseball, and The Kentucky Derby.
Visitation will be held from 12 – 1 p.m., Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Rosewood Funeral Home Chapel, 3939 Pasadena Blvd, Pasadena, Tx 77503 with the funeral service to follow and begin at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery, in Pearland, Tx.
The family would like to give a special thanks to nurses and CNAs on the 100 Hall at Baywood Crossing Rehabilitation and Healthcare for all the love and attention they gave to Lillian.
