ORANGE — Florence S. Walsh, (nee Shinn), 86, affectionately known as "Sis" by all who knew her, passed on to a better place on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at her daughter's home in Orange, Tx.

Beloved wife of the late David I. (Chuck) Walsh, dear daughter of the late Howard R. and Florence Shinn, loving mother of Maryann, Roseanne, and Jennifer. Sister of Dorothy Moulter, of Piano, Tx., Thomas R. Shinn of Springhill, Fla., and sister-in-law of Constance (Connie) Shinn, and Dottie Shinn also of Springhill, Fla. She also is survived by her cousins Marie Rose in Massachusetts and Joe Grover, from Pemberton, NJ., and many nieces and nephews. Sis was predeceased by her beloved granddaughter, Casey Danielle Jarvis, and her sister Stella Gilbert and brothers William A. Shinn and Howard R. Shinn.

Sis worked for lonac/Permutit in Birmingham, NJ, during the war effort and then worked at the NCO club on Ft. Dix where she met her future husband, Chuck.

Sis was a devoted Army wife, who relocated with the love of her life, to numerous military bases, in the states and overseas to Germany on two occasions.

When Chuck retired after 22 years of service, he brought his beloved "Sis" back home to Pemberton, NJ, so she could be near her extended family. They made a home for their three daughters, first in Pemberton Borough and then in Pemberton Township, where they would have many happy years together going to Bingo and enjoying the company of their good neighbors on Morton Rd..

After Chuck's much too early passing in 1985, Sis worked part time for lonac/Sybron Chemicals and enjoyed tending to her flower beds, and spoiling her pets. Her wise and compassionate words helped many of her family deal with issues they faced.

In early 2000, Sis was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and courageously fought to be "ok" every day. She maintained her cheerful outlook on life, friendships, and family to the very end. Sis enlightened her two daughter's

Roseanne and Jennifer, with whom she lived, in Orange, Tx., with stories of her youth. Sis enjoyed the company of her caregivers, Cynthia, Becky, Charlotte, Amanda, and Dr. Mazzola. She so enjoyed how friendly everyone in our Paulwood neighborhood and in Texas, were. Mom would love sitting out on the front or back porch and never failed to say how nice it was down here. On sunny days, Mom loved going out for car rides anywhere, the longer the journey, the better it was.
