ORANGE — FORT WORTH -- Mike "Big Daddy" Birmingham passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014, in Fort Worth, surrounded by loving friends and family after a lengthy battle with heart disease.
Service: 10 a.m. Thursday in Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mike was born Jan. 23, 1939, in Gary. He attended Stark High School in Orange, graduating in 1957. Mr. Birmingham was the president of Thronton Industries until he retired in 2004. After retirement, Mike spent many hours with his beloved grandchildren, Brandan and Ritter. He loved teaching Brandan how to fish and discussing the mechanics of trains with Ritter. He also enjoyed traveling with his loving wife, Julie. Mike is fondly remembered as an amazing father, loving husband, caring stepfather and devoted friend.
Mike was preceded in death by his first wife, Judith Ganger Birmingham; his parents, Ruby and Thomas; his twin brother, Pat; brothers, Sonny Birmingham and Jay Harrison; and sister, Katherine Parker.
Survivors: Wife, Julie Ross Birmingham; daughter, Wendy Birmingham; son-in-law, David Eatherly; grandsons, Brandan and Ritter; stepsons, Jerry and Scott Rodgers; numerous nieces and nephews; and best friend, Wayne Hairgrove.
