ORANGE — Cletus “ Wayne “ Holmes, 71, of Orange, passed from this life on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.
Born on November 10, 1942 In St. Louis, Missouri to his parents, Orie Holmes and Maxine (McCoy) Holmes, he lived in Orange for the last two years and had previously lived in St. Louis. Wayne worked as a contractor in the construction industry and he also enjoyed making pool cues as well. Wayne served his country honorably as a veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he earned the Purple Heart in 1969 and the Bronze Star Medal in 1970.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Patsy Holmes of Orange; his children, Robin (Holmes) Felix and husband, Mark, Ben Holmes and his wife, Valerie and Joe Holmes; his sisters, Barbara Lewis of Katy, Texas and Jan Collier of League City; his brother, Darrell Holmes of La Puente, California; his grandchildren, Megan Karr, Henk Buitelaar and Nichole Felix Buitelaar, Mark Felix, Matthew Felix, Harrison Holmes, Sherman Holmes, and his great-grandchildren Molly Stewart, Brennan Karr and Lorena Buitelaar. Wayne is also survived by numerous members of his extended family.
