ORANGE — Carol Ione (Hunt) Williford, 86, of Deweyville, passed from this life into the arms of her savior on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at her residence.  Born on November 13, 1927 in  Whitewood, South Dakota to her parents, Fred W. Hunt and F. Ione (Tate) Hunt, she was a longtime resident of Deweyville, had previously lived in Vidor, she was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church in Vidor and she was a housewife.  Carol enjoyed hunting, fishing, making crafts, painting, she was a people person, she had a very giving generous spirit and her family will most remember her for her hugs.

 

Carol is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin Williford; her brothers, Claude Hunt and Kenneth Hunt and her sisters Ruby Leeling and Lyla Sevon.  Those who will most cherish her memory are her daughters, Jeanette L. Hennigan of Deweyville, Gail C. Tabelin and husband, Gene of Deweyville, Paula Kirsop and life partner, John Riley of Bronson, Texas and Lynn Bray and her husband, Reverend Doug Bray of Vidor; her sons, Tim A. Courtier and wife, Linda of Hemphill, Cary J. Courtier and wife, Deborah of Zavalla, Roy E. Williford and wife, Robbie of Beaumont, Willie Dean Williford of Orange, Marvin DeWayne Williford and wife, Sandy of Florala, Alabama and Ernest Lee Williford of Florala, Alabama; her sister, Charlene Parr of Darien, Wisconsin; twenty-seven grandchildren, forty three great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and two more which are expected soon.  Carol is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and members of her extended family.

 

Services to remember and honor Carol’s life will be at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 2, 2014 at the Harmony Baptist Church, 4685 State Highway 12, Vidor, Texas 77662.  Officiating will be Carol’s son in law, Reverend Doug Bray, pastor of the church and Reverend Damon Bickham, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Deweyville.  Rite of Commital and Interment will follow services where she will be laid to rest next to her husband at the King Cemetery in Hartburg.   A gathering of Carol’s family and friends for a time of reflection and sharing will be from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.  Honoring Carol as pallbearers will be Scott Courtier, Jason Courtier, Chase Courtier, Patrick Erath, Timothy Erath, Thomas Erath, Daniel Brinson and Ryan Bray.  Honorary pallbearer will be David Courtier.  For those who desire memorial donations, the family has requested that donations be made in Carol’s memory to the charity of the donor's choice.  Condolences may be expressed for the family at www.dormanfuneralhome.com.
