Vinton- Ruby Ballard, 83, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, January 11, 2014, in her home.
Ruby was born and raised in West Orange, Texas and had been a resident of Vinton for over 50 years. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. In her earlier years, she enjoyed fishing and being outdoors with her husband.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Jimmie Ballard of Vinton; her son, Gerald Lee Sanders and wife, LeAnne of Lindale, Texas; four step-children, Jimmie Ballard, Jr. and wife, Sarah Nelle of New Caney, Texas, John Ballard and wife, Stacy of Spring, Texas, Janice Cumbie and husband, Leslie of Spring, Texas, and Jack Watson and wife, Cheryl of Galveston, Texas; siblings, AC Hebert and wife, Jane of Vinton and Doris Denman of Orange, Texas; her grandchildren, Genifer Slack and husband, Tobin of Beaumont, Texas and Geremy Sanders and wife, Jessica of Austin, Texas; step-grandchildren, Michael, Caitlin, Zach, Beau, and Jake Ballard, Leslie Cumbie Jr, Seth Watson, Stacy Finn, Ryan Ford, and William and Zachary White; her great-grandchildren, Rhemy and Camille Slack, and Giada Sanders; her step-great-grandchildren, Mallory and Sander Ford; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her spouses, Lee Sanders and Dr. Victor Watson; two step-daughters, Vicki Watson Finn and Cathy Watson White; and brothers, Harris and Bruno Hebert.
A Memorial and Celebration of Ruby's Life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
