Ronald E. ‘Rollo’ Collins
Ronald E. “Rollo” Collins, 77, lifelong resident of Orange passed away Saturday, December 2, 2006 at Hermann Memorial Baptist Hospital in Orange.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at Eastgate United Pentecostal Church. Reverend Bobby Edwards of Eastgate United Pentecostal Church will be officiating. Burial will follow at Autumn Oaks Cemetery in Orange.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Claybar Funeral in Orange.
Mr. Collins was born October 16, 1929 in Beaumont to Elbert and Tunnie Lee (Davis) Collins. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard and later worked and retired as a process operator for DuPont.
“Rollo” was a member of the Golden Triangle Model A Ford Club, Greater Houston Model A Ford Club and a member and usher of Eastgate United Pentecostal Church. Notable accomplishments include restoration of the Stark Foundation’s 1909 Huppmobile, winner of the LIT Alumni Longevity Award, and a well known and trusted mechanic.
Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Tunnie Lee (Davis) Collins and his first wife, Linda Rose Collins.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Melba R. Collins of Orange; daughter and son-in-law, Karey Lyn and Rick Williams of Beaumont; son, Olen E. “Bubba” Collins of Dallas and son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Darla Collins of Vidor. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cory Williams, Todd Williams, Ryley Collins and Ethan Collins; sisters and brothers-in-law, Naomi and Eugene Cammack, JoAnn and George Barrow, Esther and Don Bishop and Gay and Tom Dawson; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Gina Collins and numerous nieces and nephews.
