Darby Joseph Kelley, Sr., 82, of Orange, passed from this life on Sunday, November 1, 2009 in a local hospital in Orange, Texas. Services to remember his life will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 6, 2009 at the Wilbert Funeral Home in Plaquemine, Louisiana. Officiating will be Reverend Ralph Doiron, pastor of the Faith Tabernacle in Bayou Sorrel, Louisiana. Interment will follow services in Grace Memorial Park in Plaquemine. A gathering of family and friends for a time of reflection will be from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Wednesday at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange and also from 10:00 A.M. until service time at Wilbert Funeral Home in Plaquemine. Born on September 7, 1927 in Bayou Chene, Louisiana to parents, Charlie Kelley and Elizabeth (Diamond) Kelley, he lived in Orange since 1962, he retired as a welder and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Kelley was a simple kind of man who enjoyed sports, the gardening of vegetables, reading of his bible and he enjoyed sitting on the porch swing drinking coffee. Mr. Kelley is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Perry Kelley, Sr., his brothers, Arthur Kelley and Earl Kelley, Sr. and his wife, Betty Ann Kelley. Those who will most cherish his memory are his daughters, Jill Hull and husband, Paul, Sr. of Marrero, Louisiana and Kim Prater and husband Jim of Orange; his sons, Jimmy Kelley and wife Cathy of Plaquemine, Darby Kelley, Jr. and wife Donna of Petersburg, Nebraska and Terry Kelley of Orange; his sisters, Joyce Carline and husband Carl of Charenton, Louisiana and Emily Carline of Charenton, Louisiana; his brothers, George Kelley and wife Patricia, Millard Kelley and Darrell Kelley all of Bayou Sorrell, LA; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
