Pete Douglas Johnson, 84, of Mauriceville, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M.Saturday, August 11, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Mauriceville. Officiating will be Reverend Kevin Brown, pastor of the church. Interment will follow the services at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in the McLewis community of Orange. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Friday at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.

 Born on September 10, 1922 in Eunice, Louisiana to Frank Henry and Vera Mae (Evans) Johnson, he lived in the Orange area for 75 years, had once resided in Beaumont, worked as an Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician in the maintenance department at the DuPont Sabine River Works Plant in Orange and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, past president of the Lions Club in Mauriceville and a founder of the Twin County Little League. He enjoyed travel, basketball, fishing, tinkering around the house and woodworking.

 Mr. Johnson is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Henry Marlen “Pee Wee” Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Joyce Johnson of Mauriceville, children, Pat Bryant and husband Rodney of Brookeland, Texas, Pete “Bud” Johnson of Mauriceville, Pride Johnson and wife Kirsten of Big Fork, Montana and Pam Merren and husband Bobby of Kountze, Texas. Grandchildren, Chad Bryant and wife April of Mauriceville, Kevin Johnson and wife Norma of Frisco, Texas, Rodney Brown of Austin, Kimberly Townsend of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, David Bryant of Tyler, Texas, Bobby Cherry and wife Porshe of Webster, Texas, Leah Johnson of Beaumont, Krysta Johnson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Darin Cherry and wife Missy of Beaumont, Leslie Johnson of Port Arthur and Kory Johnson of Big Fork, Montana and Seven great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Bryant, Kevin Johnson, Rodney Brown, David Bryant, Darin Cherry, Kory Johnson and C. J. Bryant. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Adult Plus Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church of Mauriceville.
