Woman dies after her vehicle collides into semi truck

VIDOR — A two vehicle accident at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday morning on Interstate 10 near Rose City resulted in one driver being killed and one driver being transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety press release.

Ashley Nicole Hollyfield, 24, of Fred was driving a 2011 Honda vehicle westbound on Interstate 10 in the eastbound lanes of traffic. Her vehicle collided head-on with a truck tractor semi-trailer, driven by Stephen Muse, 66, of Austin.

The release state a witness said Hollyfield’s vehicle traveled from Orange to Rose City before striking the truck.

Muse was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth with minor injuries. He was treated and released at 6 a.m.

There were no other vehicles involved in the crash.

All eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 are now open at this time. DPS will continue to investigate this fatal crash.
