The Port Arthur Dive Team was assisting Orange County Sheriff’s Office detectives on West Bluff Road Thursday night in searching for a vehicle with an area woman’s body reportedly still in it.
A recent tip involving information on the 11-year-old unsolved murder led detectives to search the boat ramp area on West Bluff Road near the Echo Northeast Oilfield and along the Sabine River.
The search took more than four hours. Wrecker drivers from Gilbeaux’s Wrecker Service were able to bring a Dodge vehicle full of mud with no body to the surface using a roll-back wrecker and three staff members. However, detectives were looking for a Pontiac, according to a source close to the investigation.
Detectives are expected to be returning to the area for further investigation and looking for a second vehicle still believed to be in the water.
