ORANGE — A local man has been indicted for the robbery of a local credit union this past summer.

Justin Samuel Mink was indicted by a federal grand jury this week and charged with bank robbery in the Sept. 6 robbery of Firestone Community Federal Credit Union on MacArthur Drive in West Orange.

According to information provided U.S. Attorney John M. Bales, Mink, 26, is “alleged to have entered” the credit union and “racked” the shotgun he was carrying while demanding money from the three bank tellers on duty that morning. Mink managed to flee the credit union with $48,265.

Tips by local citizens to law enforcement helped to identify Mink as the bank robber and other tips helped identify the waterfront location where the weapon had reportedly been disposed of following the crime.

Law enforcement divers have since recovered part of the weapon from that location.

If convicted, Mink will face up to 20 years in federal prison.
