ORANGE — Sporting Clay Shoot

The Samaritan Counseling Center of Southeast Texas will hold a benefit to raise money for children and youth in crisis situations starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at the 1 in One Hundred Gun Club, 1228 FM 421 Road in Lumberton. Sponsors and participants can give financial support to young people in crisis situations while enjoying an exciting sporting event.

Diabetes Education

A free 8-week Diabetes Empowerment Education Program will be held from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., Thursdays, Feb. 7 - March 28, at Carter Chapel CME Church, 549 W. 8th St. in Port Arthur. RSVP by Feb. 4 by calling 409-384-2099.

Catfish Dinners

St. Therese Catholic Church, 1409 N. Sixth St. in Orange, will have catfish dinners available from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., every Friday during Lent. Meal is $8 and includes catfish, red rice, potato salad, green beans, cake and bread. Delivery available on orders of 5 or more. Call 409-883-3783 for orders.

Income Tax Assistance

AARP Tax Filing Assistance Program will be offered from 12:15 p.m. - 4 p.m., every Wedneaday and Friday at the Orange Public Library. Bring the following, all W-2 and 1099 forms, records of capital gains and losses, copy of 2011 tax return, receipts of medical expenses, major purchases and social security cards for dependents.

Pool tournament

The Fraternal Order of Eagles, 803 N. 28th St. in Orange, will host a pool tournament beginning at 8 p.m., every Friday. Prize money will given to first and second place winners. Food will be available. Call Sharon Bodin at 409-735-8662 or 409-719-7793 for info.

VFW Post 8246, 2110 S. Main in Vidor, invites the public to its weekly pool tournament every Friday night. Ages 21 and older only. Call 409-768-1482 for info.

Chuck Young Baseball Classic

The Chuck Young Baseball Alumni Classic will be held Saturday, Feb. 9. The event will begin with a Homerun Derby at 10 a.m. and there is a $20 entry fee. The alumni baseball game is scheduled for noon. Anyone interested in playing should contact chris.moore@bridgecityisd.net.
