Men Step Up, Males Bow Out

ORANGE — I was talking with a young mother who was crying.

She informed me that her daughter was apprehensive about going to the prom. Feeling that she is not meeting the criteria that her culture has deemed to be attractive she struggled with going, not being able to find a date.

Her mother doing what mothers do encouraged her that if she wanted to go it will be okay to go by herself. This was something she did not want to do. If she didn’t have an escort she didn’t want to go. After thinking about it she decided to ask her father if he would escort her to her prom.

Getting up the nerve, overcoming her fear of rejection she called and asked him.

“Dad my prom is in three weeks can you escort me to my prom? Sorry I have to work he replied.” Crushed and distraught she hangs up the phone as the tears begin to fall heaving down her face.

Her father has bowed out. Two weeks went by, and the ram in the push appeared. The mother expressed to me that she was speaking with the friend who took her to her prom and explained the situation.

He said “I would be more than honored to escort her to the prom.”

The mother spoke to her daughter, “baby, remember my friend from high school? He said if you’d like he will be more than honored to be your escort. But mom he lives so far away. No that’s okay, I just won’t go.

The mother told her friend and he spoke to the daughter and let her know how important this experience is to a high school student and he has already booked his flight to be there. Well he flew in and escorted her to her prom. He stepped up.

It never cease to amaze me how those who make the selfish decision to have unprotected sex with a woman that they really don’t want anything to do with except to deposit their sperm will not embrace the responsibility of their irresponsibility and be there for their children.

If all he wanted to do is release, go to a sperm bank and at lease get paid. Oh that’s right they don’t want his worthless sperm either.

Men are you stepping up or are you bowing out? The choice will always be yours. Step Up!!!!
