ORANGE — Orange County Commissioners Court proclaimed Thursday, May 2, as National Day of Prayer.

“Vickie Landry who is retired from switchboard organizes the event for us,” County Judge Carl Thibodeaux said. “We invite everyone to be there with us.”

The annual event is held at noon on the Orange County Courthouse front lawn, 801 W. Division in Orange.

President Ronald Reagan signed legislation in 1988 declaring the first Thursday in the month of May would be the day to observe National Day of Prayer.

This will mark the 15th year the annual event is held in Orange County.
