ORANGE — Saturday Adventure Series

Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center, 2111 W. Park Ave. in Orange, will hold its Saturday Adventure Series, at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 13. “I Scream for Orchids” participants will make ice cream, and discuss edible orchids around the world. Ice cream lovers of all ages will enjoy this program RSVP is required. Call 409-670-9799.

Book signing

Tom Gier, author of ‘Lasting Impressions’ is having a book signing 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Fontenot Memorial Library located at 1402 Center St. in Vinton, La.

Zydeco

Sacred Heart-St. Mary Parish in Port Arthur will have a Zydeco dance on Saturday, Oct. 13. Call the Parish at 409-985-5104 for more information.

Honey Bear Clinic

The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Honey Bears will hold its annual clinic from 8:30 a.m. - noon, Saturday, Oct. 13, in the gym. Students who are in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade are eligible and the cost is $30. Students will perform for parents at 11:30 a.m., and again at the LC-M High School Pep Rally on Oct. 26. Please dress children comfortably and wear tennis shoes. Students will receive a t-shirt, picture and a snack. For additional information, contact Deann Lumpkin at dlumpkin@lcmcisd.org.

Mt. Zion Fellowship of Churches

The Mt. Zion Fellowship of Churches will have its monthly service at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 14, at Starlight Missionary Baptist Church, 350 N. 37th St. inOrange. Pastor Charlot, vice president of the Mt. Zion Fellowship, will deliver the message. Everyone is welcome to attend and be Blessed.

Safe Boating

Sabine Sail and Power Squadron will hold a Safe Boating Class from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Pleasure Island Commission Bldg, 500 Pleasure Island Blvd in Port Arthur. Minimum age is 13. Texas requires boater education for persons under 18 and born after Sept. 1, 1993 to operate boat over 15 HP, personal watercraft or wind driven craft over 14 ft. in length.
