Tea party protest to be held at Lions Park on Saturday

The burgeoning nationwide discontent with the American government’s actions will be making itself known in Orange Saturday.

The Orange County Tea Party will be held from noon to about 3 p.m. Saturday at the Orange Lions Club Park, according to event organizer Bill Tennison.

Tennison stressed the protest would not be a partisan event.

“We are just citizens who are concerned about what’s going on in our nation,” said Tennison, who added that several dignitaries, “from the governor on down,” had been invited to speak.

“We’re wanting to find out who all is going to make it before we let everyone know,” he said.

According to the web site FreedomWorks.org, protests are planned to be held in more than 200 cities across the country; some have already been held, with most to be held on April 15.
