Saturday Adventure Series
Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center, 2111 W. Park Ave. in Orange, will hold its Saturday Adventure Series, at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 27. “Night Life at Shangri La” is a family program where we’ll turn off the lights and rely on our senses of hearing and touch as we explore the world of nocturnal animals and their adaptations. Faith United Methodist Church, 8608 MLK Drive in Orange, will hold its annual Fall Fest from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 28. Activities include face painting, bean bag toss, duckie treat fishing, cake walk, pumpkin bowling and more. Food available. The public is invited to this free event.
Distinguished Faculty Lecture
James Esser, professor of psychology at Lamar University, will present Lamar’s 26th annual Distinguished Faculty Lecture at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the University Theatre on the Lamar campus in Beaumont. “Negotiating with Terrorists” will be Esser’s topic. The Fraternal Order of Eagles, located at 803 N. 28th St. in Orange, will hold a barbecue lunch event from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 15. The meal includes brisket, link, baked beans, potato salad, bread, cookie and trimmings. Cost is $8 per plate. Walk-ins welcome and delivery is available.
