ORANGE — OHS Pep Rally

Orangefield High School will hold its homecoming community pep rally at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 8 at F.L. McClain Stadium in Orangefield. A fireworks display will immediately follow the pep rally. The public is invited.

Retired teachers

Retired Teachers of Orange County will meet at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 8 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 401 37th St. in Orange. Brandi Neeb, director of Rainbow Room, will be the guest speaker. Members will continue to bring books for TRTA Children’s Book Project.

Retired Senior Citizens

The Orange County Retired Senior Citizens will meet at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 8 at The Salvation Army Bldg. on MLK and Strickland. Please bring a covered dish for the noon meal. We are still collecting soaps for Orange Christian Services. All seniors are welcome to attend. Call 409-883-6161 for more info.

Latin Dance Classes

The Willard Library Branch is sponsoring a Latin dance class on Monday, Oct. 8. The classes will be held at the North End Community Center, 3580 Lucas Drive in Beaumont. The one-hour lessons will be taught by trained dancer Derek Janise. The program is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Participants must be 21 or older. Meeting Canceled

The City of Pinehurst council meeting scheduled for 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9, has been canceled. The next meeting will be 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 23.

Pecan fundraiser

The Mighty Pirates 4-H Club is selling the famous Durham-Ellis pecans from Comanche, Texas, and is accepting orders till Oct. 12. Pecans will be available for pickup before Thanksgiving. Items availabe are raw pecans, flavor pecans, specialty nuts and mixes at various prices. Raw pecans are $9 for a 1 lb bag, $28 for a 3 lb box and $43 for a 5 lb box.
