One fatality confirmed in 2 vehicle collision

ORANGE — The driver of a 1999 Nissan died during a collision involving two vehicles at approximately 7:30 p.m. Thursday near 10th Street and Green Ave. in Orange.

Orange City Police Department press release stated the driver was extracted from the vehicle using the jaws of life before being transported to Baptist Hospital Orange where she was pronounced dead.

A passenger in the car was also transported to the same location with minor injuries. A two-year old in the back seat was transported to Texas Children’s Hospital in Galveston by Air Rescue.  

The condition of the 2 year old is unknown at this time.

The fourth person in the vehicle was uninjured.

A 2000 Ford Explorer with major damage to the front of the vehicle was also involved in the collision. No injuries were reported from individuals in the Explorer at the time of the incident.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.  

The City of Orange Police Department was assisted by the City of Orange Fire Department, West Orange Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
