One dead following chase through Orange

ORANGE — A 29-year-old man is dead from injuries sustained after losing control of his vehicle while attempting to flee police.

An unidentified 29-year-old black male died shortly after 10 p.m., Friday (June 13, 2014) after he reportedly lost control of his Ford truck while driving on Park Street after crossing the Adams Bayou bridge heading into Pinehurst.

According to reports, the driver was fleeing police after officers with the Orange Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop at approximately 10 p.m., Friday, on 16th Street near Link Avenue in Orange.

The driver pulled into the turning lane, and then traveled west on Park Avenue at a high rate of speed. He lost control of the truck and flipped several times and came to a stop near 30th Street and Pin Oak Drive, according to reports.

Medical personnel transported the driver to an area hospital, where he later died from injuries he suffered in the crash. No other information was immediately available.
