The South East Texas Regional Planning Commission (SETRPC) is seeking to identify strategies, programs and services to improve and support criminal justice efforts across Texas.
“We are holding a community meeting in each county [Hardin, Jefferson and Orange County],” SETRPC representative Sue Landry said during a phone interview. “ By holding three meetings we can get a better cross section of the communities and have more valuable information for the plan.”
The specific areas addressed during the meeting include:
• Prevention & Juvenile Justice
• Law Enforcement
• Specialty Courts
• Texas Crime Stoppers
• Victim’s Services
“We will also address the substance abuse and mental health component as well,” Landry said.
The regions is anticipating receiving Criminal Justice Division grant funds and the information gathered from the meetings will outline actions, services and projects the funds need to target.
“We will meet in January to decide the regional priorities,” Landry said. “Information gathered from the meetings will show us what are the greatest requirements for the community.”
