A Beaumont man is behind bars after police located several stolen items in the back of his pickup truck.
Ricky Beckett was arrested for felony theft early Wednesday morning after officers with the Beaumont Police Department observed him stopped in the middle of the Magnolia Street placing an item in the back of his truck. Officers confronted Beckett and discovered six stainless steel “trash can tops” in the back of his 1995 Chevrolet truck, which happened to be one of the lids back into his vehicle when police located him.
Police located a car wash in the area of Lucas and Magnolia where locks had been cut to “free the lids from the base.” The fasteners had also been pried off.
Police said Beckett, 54, was also trying to conceal “burglary tools” used in the crime after he was confronted by officers.
Beckett was arrested and transported to the Jefferson County Jail.
