Time to start purchasing furniture for the Orange County Convention and Expo Center.
Orange County Commissioners transferred a total of $104, 790 for furniture for the shelter of last resort located at 11475 FM 1442 in Orange. The funds were transferred from two accounts, Building and Constructions in General Funds, in the amount of $87,450 and Travel and Tourism in the Hotel/Motel Tax for $17,340 during the Monday afternoon meeting.
Commissioner Pct. 3 John Banken questioned the amount.
“That is a lot of furniture,” Banken said. “Is this in the budget?”
County Judge Carl Thibodeaux said he would get a break down list of the items to Banken.
“This was agreed upon last year during the budget talks,” Thibodeaux said. “That was before you [were elected].”
County Treasurer Christy Khoury said the court knew the funds would need to be moved.
