ORANGE — An Orange Fire Department firefighter was injured Tuesday morning while responding to a house fire.

Firefighter Aaron Long sustained a second degree burn to his arm while fighting a fire in the 2400 block of Pacific Street.

Long was transported to a local hospital and was treated and released to return to duty.

A police unit arrived first at the house and reported heavy smoking coming from the home. The house was determined to be vacant and the fire was reported to have spread to the attic and burned through the roof.

Firefighters brought the fire under control within 10 minutes and extinguished the blaze in 30 minutes.

The department had received a second report of a house fire on Putnam Street within 30 seconds of the incident on Pacific being called into the station.

Fire units responded to both locations yet only found fire at the location on Pacific.

The cause of the fire on Pacific Street is considered suspicious. Anyone with information is urged to call the fire marshal at (409)988-7360.
