VIDOR — Vidor councilman and candidate for mayor arrested for public intoxication

A current Vidor city council person and mayor for candidate was arrested for public intoxication this past weekend.

Trey Haney, the Ward 6 council person for the City of Vidor and a candidate for Mayor in the May 11 general election, was arrested early Sunday morning for public intoxication after police found him asleep at the wheel of his vehicle.

According to a report from the Orange Police Department, police received a call at approximately 4:40 a.m., Sunday, of a vehicle parked in the roadway on the southside of Interstate 10 near Adams Bayou. The responding officer found a red Chevrolet Tahoe parked in the outside lane and a man asleep behind the wheel.

The report stated the man, identfied as Haney, “appeared disoriented and confused.” When asked by the officer if he knew where he was, Haney stated “my house.” The investigating officer also stated in the report “a strong odor of alcoholic beverage” coming from Haney.

Haney, 31, was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Orange County Correction Facility. He was released on a $500 bond at approximately 2:15 p.m., Sunday.
