2 students injured in bus collision

MAURICEVILLE — Two children were injured late Monday afternoon following a two vehicle wreck involving a car and school bus.

Trooper Stephanie Davis of the Texas Department of Public Safety said in an e-mail that two students from the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Consolidated Independent School District were transported to a Beaumont hospital after a car collided with the rear of the school bus. The wreck occurred shortly after 4 p.m., Monday, in the 9200 block of State Highway 12 in Mauriceville.

According to the DPS, the LC-M CISD school bus was struck from behind as it was stopping to unload children from the bus. The car which struck the rear of the bus was a 2007 Toyota Corolla driven by 16-year-old Kailyn Bishop of Orange, who was cited by law enforcement for Failure to Control Speed.

The school bus was occupied by 11 children and the driver at the time of the wreck. No other injuries were reported. State troopers are still investigating this collision.
