Area residents may want to be mindful of the numerous closures about to take place with government entities and businesses in the next two weeks.
All non-essential city offices for the cities of Orange, West Orange, Bridge City, Pinehurst, Vidor and Pine Forest will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24, Wednesday, Dec. 25, and reopen on Thursday, Dec. 26. Offices in Bridge City will be also closed Monday, Dec. 23, and city offices in West Orange will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 31 in addition. All city offices will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014.
In Rose City, city offices will close at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and be closed on Christmas Day, as well as Thursday, Dec. 26 and be open on Friday, Dec. 27. Offices in Rose City will close at noon, Tuesday, Dec. 31, and be closed on New Years Day, Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014. All city offices will reopen on Jan. 2, 2014.
Garbage collection will not be done on Wednesday in the city of Orange. Instead, garbage collection for Wednesday will take place on Thursday, Dec. 26, and Thursday’s collection will be for Friday, while Friday’s collection will take place on Saturday, Dec. 28.
In West Orange, garbage service will run on Saturday instead of Friday, and, in Bridge City, garbage service will run one day later than originally scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 25 through Friday, Dec. 27.
In Pinehurst, garbage service will be on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and Saturday, Dec. 28. Service will run on Dec. 31 and Jan. 4, 2014, as well. In Vidor, garbage service will not run on Christmas Day only. It will instead be collected on Thursday with regular daily service. The sanitation department asks all customers to have cans placed along the roadside by 6 a.m. each day. Service will run as normal on Jan. 1, 2014.
All non-essential Orange County offices will be closed Monday, Dec. 23 through Wednesday, Dec. 25, returning to normal operation on Thursday, Dec. 26. Offices will be open on Tuesday, Dec. 31, but closed for the holiday on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014. Orange County offices will resume normal operation on Thursday, Jan. 2.
Area financial institutions will have varying hours during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, so it is best to check with your respective bank or credit union. First Financial Bank will be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, 2014, but Sabine Federal Credit Union will be closed Dec. 24, Dec. 25, and Jan. 1, 2014.
The U.S. Postal Service will not deliver mail on either Wednesday, Dec. 25 or Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014.
