A body found Friday morning in the Sabine River is believed to be that of a man missing since early Tuesday.
Nicky Lee Moak went missing at approximately 2:15 a.m., Tuesday, April 9, in the Sabine River in Bon Wier, Texas. A female who was with Moak heard him yell for help but lost sight of him before calling the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.
On Friday, investigators have reported the discovery of a body on the Louisiana side of the Sabine River, located just south of the bridge at Highway 190.
Investigators with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, used boats equipped with sonar and K-9 units in the search for Moak, 57, on Tuesday.
Investigators have informed media they believe the body to be Moak’s, but an official confirmation is pending.
