May elections are set following Friday’s deadline



Incumbent councilmen Dan Barclay, Matt Chandler and Dan Mohon have all filed for re-election in Pinehurst and will run unopposed.


Mayor David Bush and incumbent councilmen Hernando Ramos and Chad Landry have filed for re-election this May and will be unopposed.


Incumbent Mayor Joe Peno and Jason Dunwoody, Place 5 incumbent, have both filed for re-election, while candidate Darrell E. Talcott has filed for the Place 1 seat, currently held by John Davis who has opted not to file for another term in office. All positions will be unopposed.


The West Orange-Cove Consolidated Independent School District’s Board of Trustees will have an election this year as five candidates seek the three at-large council positions.

The three incumbents, which include Harry Barclay, Ricky Jacobs and Hardy O’Neal, have filed for re-election, but they will be opposed by new candidates Mary Ann Kirksey and Bryan Thomas Muhammed.


The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Consolidated Independent School District will have an election this May as three candidates seek one of the two positions on the Board of Trustees.

Incumbent Jason Woods, Position 7, has filed for re-election and will be opposed by new candidates Ron Borel and Blake Istre. Rex Peveto, the incumbent for Position 6, will run unopposed.


The Vidor Independent School District looks to be having another big election.

Three positions are open this May and all three will be opposed races.

Candidate Dennis Hill will take on David Camp, a former VISD Trustee, for the seat in Position 3, which is currently held by Sheila Sarver who opted not to seek re-election.

Mike Kilmer, the Position 4 incumbent, has filed for re-election and will be opposed by Watson Franks.

Candidates Mike Marion and Mike Williams will battle it out for the Position 5 seat, which is currently held by Michael Quinn who did not file for re-election.

Bridge City ISD

All incumbents on the Board of Trustees in the Bridge City Independent School, Rebecca Rutledge, Place 3, Thad Hill, Place 4, and Jerry McInnis, Place 5, have filed for re-election and are unopposed.
