Road work continues on FM 105

ORANGEFIELD — Motorists could encounter road delays this week as the state’s transportation agency continues a current project.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is continuing its current work project on FM 105 in Orange County, which began in August and resumed Tuesday, is scheduled from 7 a.m. through 5 p.m., daily, through Friday. The two lane road will be reduced to one lane of traffic from FM 1135 to FM 1442.

“It’s a project we’re doing where we are widening the lanes of FM 105 from 10-foot wide lanes to 11-foot wide lanes with 3-foot improved shoulders,” said Sarah Dupre, TxDOT public information officer.

Dupre said work crews will extend the turning lane at the intersection of FM 1442 and FM 105 from a 10-foot turn lane into a 14-foot turn lane.

Dupre added work crews will be adding a “12-foot continuous left turn lane” from Ashford Park Road to Orangefield Elementary School on FM 105.

All work is done weather permitting and does not reflect any emergency lane closures issued by TxDOT. Motorists are encouraged to plan accordingly as delays could be encountered and to be watchful of workers while traveling through the work zone.

The project, which is being handled by APAC-Texas, is estimated at $4.1 million and is scheduled to be completed in July 2014.
