2 arrested for narcotics during traffic stop


Orange County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Deputy’s initiated a traffic stop near Dayton Street and Western Street in West Orange approximately 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Markie Okeen Childress, 27, and Hylie Lee Garrett, 27, both of Orange, were arrested after a search of the vehicle uncovered a quantity of marihuana, MDMA/Ecstasy pills and 30 grams of liquid PCP, hidden in a compartment within the dash area.  

A large amount of cash in the vehicle was also discovered in the vehicle.  

Both men are being charged with Possession of Marihuana (Class B Misdemeanor), and two counts Possession of a Controlled Substance (2nd degree Felony) and were transported to the Orange County Correctional Facility.

Bonds have been set at $21,000 each.

Phencyclidine (PCP), also known by common or street names: Angel Dust, PeaCe Pill, Hog, Lovely, Wack, Ozone, Dust, Embalming Fluid, Rocket Fuel; Supergrass and Killer Joints are names that refer to PCP combined with marijuana. Marihuana cigarettes/blunts are dipped in the liquid PCP and then sold for around $10.00 apiece according to a press release from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
