Toy Coffee fundraiser to be held on Dec. 5

ORANGE — The holiday season is just around the corner and one of the most popular holiday fundraising traditions is too.

The Service League of Orange will hold the 2013 Toy Coffee fundraiser from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, in the home of Larry and Jan Jacobs. The house is located at 304 Waterwood Drive in Orange, which is located in the Waterwood Subdivision, which is located off State Highway 62.

“We are very excited the Jacobs’ agreed to open their house to everyone for our Toy Coffee this year,” said Rosemary Higgins, Toy Coffee chairperson. “It’s a beautiful house and a great neighborhood. It’s the same neighborhood where we held the Toy Coffee last year.”

Admission to the annual event is for guests to bring a new, unwrapped toy or a monetary donation which will be given to The Salvation Army of Orange County for use in its Christmas program for needy families.

In 2012, the Toy Coffee event set a record for toys donated as 382 guests donated 660 toys and $4,208.83 in cash.

In the past four years, including 2012, more than 1,600 people have attended the Toy Coffee fundraisers while donating approximately 1,800 toys and more than $17,000 in much needed funds.

“Our goal is to do even better than we did in 2012,” Higgins added. “We want more presents and more people, and I think we can do it.”

The toys and money will be presented to the Salvation Army of Orange County in its annual toy giveaway for registered families prior to Christmas.
