Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce seeks nominees for annual awards

ORANGE — The Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting nomination for Citizen of the Year, Business Community Service Award, and Non Profit Community Service Award for 2013.

To submit a nominee for the 2103 Community Service - Business Award the nomination must include the name of the business, its location, and details of activities/reasons for the nominations for this award.

The guidelines are:

• The award is open to businesses located in the Greater Orange Area.

• The business should be selected on the basis of their activities during the year for which they are being selected. However, the committee can take into account the activities of the business over the last five (5) years.

• The Award should not be presented to any governmental entity, Chamber, or similar entity.

• The nominations are by secret ballot to preserve the enigma of the winner. Only the Committee Chair, Chairman of the Board and President will know the results until it is publicly announced on the designated date.

• Nominations will be accepted through a specified time period.

To submit a nominee for the 2103 Non Profit Community Service Award the nomination must include the name of the business, its location, and details of activities/reasons for the nominations for this award.

The guidelines are:

• The award is open to any Non Profit Organization with a 501 © 3 tax status located in the Greater Orange Area.

• The Non Profit Organization may be, but not required to be, a member of the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce.

• The Non Profit Organization should be selected on the basis of their activities during the year for which they are being selected. However, the committee can take into account the activities of the organization over the last five (5) years.

• The Award should not be presented to any governmental entity, Chamber, or similar entity.

• The nominations are by secret ballot to preserve the enigma of the winner. Only the Committee Chair, Chairman of the Board and President will know the results until it is publicly announced on the designated date.

• Nominations will be accepted through a specified time period.

To nominate someone for the 2103 Citizen of the Year Award, a detailed written resume' outlining the activities of the person being nominated must be submitted to:

The general rules are:

• This award will be open to any resident of Orange County, male or female. They may be, but not need be, a member of the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce.

• They should be selected on the basis of their activities during the year for which they are being selected. However, the committee can take into account the activities of the individual over the last three (3) years.

• The award should not be presented to paid professional leaders such as City Manager, County Judges and others in this category. If circumstances warrant, an Honorable Mention could be given to person(s) in this category.

• The nominations are by secret ballot to preserve the enigma of the winner. If nominees are in a runoff, then only the Committee Chair, Chairman of the Board and President will know the results until it is publicly announced at the Annual Awards Meeting.

If you know someone who has served the Orange area community that would qualify as a 2013 Citizen of the Year Award recipient, please send your nomination, giving personal information and details of the work done by such a person.

The selection committee will make final selection of the recipient of the awards. The Membership Chairman of the Board will select the chair of the committee. The chairman will select committee members, with a maximum of three (3). All Committee members should be affiliated with the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce.

The awards will be presented at the Chamber's Annual Meeting on December 10, 2013 at Sunset Grove Country Club. Information will be sent to the media.

All nominations must be in writing and received no later than 12:00 P.M., Noon, Tuesday, November 12, 2013.

The Greater Orange Area represents Orange, Pinehurst, West Orange, Mauriceville, and Orangefield.
