ORANGE — Capital One will be closing its branch in downtown Orange next month.

Capital One NA announced recently it would be closing one of its Orange, Texas branches, along with a location in Beaumont and two in Houston, Texas. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency noted the closure filings in its weekly report on March 7, according to the Associated Press.

Steven Thorpe, spokesman for the McLean, Va.-based Capital One NA, stated the closing of the four locations would affect 16 employees. The branches are expected to close by mid-April.

Bank employees were notified of the closures in January to give them ample time to find employment elsewhere or at Capital One.

The Beaumont branch slated to close is located at 7080 Calder St. The Houston locations are at 919 Milam St. and 20503 FM 529 By-Pass.

Capital One customers in Orange will still be able to utilize the other local branch, known as the Northway Branch, which is located at 3738 N. 16th St. in Orange.

Calls to the Capital One location in downtown Orange seeking comment were not immediately returned.
