Umbrellas needed over next few days

ORANGE — Get out the umbrellas and check to make windshield wipers are working properly because the next few days will see a lot of rain.

Rain is forecast to enter the Southeast Texas area starting Tuesday witha  chance of showers.

Wednesday could be the worst day of rain the area has seen in months.

The bad weather is due from a large upper level storm system which was over Baja on Monday and was set across New Mexico on Tuesday.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, La. expect four inches of rain over Southeast Texas from the storm with some areas getting up to six inches or more.

The storm could produce tornados and damaging winds and hail cannot be ruled out.

Lows on Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be in the upper 50s with highs in the lower to upper 60s.

Rain is expected to let up a bit on Thursday but the dry spell will not last long as another system is expected to hit the area over the weekend. Highs on Thursday are predicted to reached the lower 70s.

Colder temperatures could be brought in over the weekend with lows in the 40s.

The lowest chance of rain through next Monday is 20 percent on Friday night.
