Drug cases lead recent indictments

The Orange County grand jury met this week and returned an indictment against Joseph Ora Garrick, 38, of Orange, for felony possession of a controlled substance.

Garrick is accused of throwing a bag of cocaine out the window of his vehicle while he was being pulled over for a traffic violation.

According to reports from the Orange Police Department, while the officers were in the area of 16th and Sunset Streets, they reportedly saw a green Dodge pickup traveling south on 16th Street at a high rate of speed.

The officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the parking lot of a car wash, but the driver of the truck traveled through the parking lot and back toward 16th Street. Just before the vehicle entered back onto 16th Street, officers allegedly observed the driver throw out a small plastic bag from the passenger side window. The officer noted he saw the bag hit the ground in the parking lot. The truck finally stopped on a nearby street.

The only occupant of the vehicle was identified as Garrick. An officer walked back to the scene where they reportedly saw the bag land on the pavement. The bag allegedly contained 14 rocks of crack cocaine which were wrapped in individual small bags. Garrick was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Other indictments returned include:

• Eric Quinn, 20, Orange, felony possession of a controlled substance- Quinn is accused of being in possession of cocaine;

• Brinson Mark Gans, 43, Orange, felony possession of a controlled substance- Gans is accused of being in possession of cocaine;
