Business Development Conference to begin Tuesday

ORANGE — Starting Tuesday, April 9, Southeast Texas Economic Development Foundation in partnership with the Governor's Small Business Forum will present the 2nd Annual Business Development Week Conference at the Holiday Inn Beaumont Plaza.

The three-day event will include informative programs and workshops with key elements to help begin and grow a business. Starting with the opening General Session "Keys to A Positive, Significant Life" with Kip Glasscock.

Glasscock is ranked with Zig Zigler and Norman Vincent Peale for motivational training programs. The first day will conclude with the appearance of Erik Qualman, author of "Socialnomics", Amazon's #1 Best Seller list worldwide, and is hosted by Lamar University at the Montagne Center, free to the public. The Business Development Week conference is an opportunity for anyone interested in learning about business, starting a business or expanding an existing business.

A few of the topics that will be offered are, Speak to Engage, Visit the Cloud and Taking Your Business Mobile. A highlight of the conference will be the Small Business Awards Lunch to be held on Wed., April 10th at the Holiday Inn Beaumont Plaza. Awards will be presented by the Southeast Texas Economic Development Foundation in the following categories: Dr. Robert A. Swerdlow Small Business Person of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year and Family Owned Business of the Year. These awards cover a 3 county region. Several SE Texas Chambers of Commerce will be presenting their "Business of the Year" awards as well.

Small business owner Joe Tortorice, owner of Jason's Deli, stated that last year's Business Development Week was "Very interactive and informative." The 2013 Business Development Week Conference is a learning experience that will benefit both business owner and employees.
