PINEHURST — The City of Pinehurst City Council will discuss banning smoking in all restaurants in Pinehurst during the special and workshop meeting 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will also discuss creating a committee to study the affect of the vacant commercial buildings within the city. Concerns were raised during the May 14 meeting of the difficulty is reaching Phelan Investments by telephone.

Phelan Investments owns several shopping centers in Orange County including the old Sears building on MacArthur in Pinehurst. Repeated attempts to locate the property at Phelan Investments website have proven futile.

City Administrator will give a report on meeting with a representative of Phelan Corporation.

The council will also discuss:

• selecting a financial institution for Bank Depository Services.

• TCEQ Five Year Plan for Pinehurst Sewer System.

• The status of the Ike 2.2 Grant for the lift station rehab and replacement of the Lexington Bridge.

• New Storm Water regulations and the cost to join the local group of cities.

The Pinehurst City Council meets 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pinehurst City Hall located at 2497 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Pinehurst.
