Leader's Outdoor Editor, father escape serious injury in I-10 wreck

VIDOR — The Outdoors Editor for The Orange Leader, Chester Moore Jr., and his father, narrowly escaped serious injury, or worse, following a wreck Sunday morning on Interstate 10.

Chester Moore Jr. and his father, Chester Moore, were traveling west on Interstate 10 near FM 1132 in Vidor when their vehicle was struck by a tractor truck and trailer at approximately 10 a.m., Sunday. All westbound lanes of I-10 were closed after the Moores vehicle burst into flames.

Details are still forthcoming, but Moore and his father, who were traveling to Houston for a speaking engagement, were able to get out of the vehicle on their own before it was consumed by flames.

All lanes of Interstate 10 West re-opened at before 1:30 p.m., Sunday.
