LITTLE CYPRESS — On Friday, Feb. 21, 13 members of the Little Cypress Junior High Choir attended the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Region 10 solo and ensemble contest. Each student prepared and memorized a solo for performance in front of a single judge who gave them a written critique and rating.

Ten of those singers received “Superior” or First Division ratings for their performances. They are Oriana Amodeo, McKenzie Guillory, Nick Mugleston, Connor Reno, Hayley Votava, Meagan Mathews, Aaryn Arnold, Rachel Belcher, Aidan Croaker, and Seth Gardner. Three students earned “Excellent” ratings. They are Haylie Cates, Trinity Harmon, and Mayra Hernandez.

These results are even more impressive considering that their contest date had to be rescheduled for a month later than planned, during which time the students did not get to practice during school hours.

According to LCJH Choir Teacher, Stephanie Teague, “I am very impressed with the level of dedication and commitment the students have shown.”
