Conflict of interest?

ORANGE — Orange City Council Member Mary McKenna, left, and Bill Mello listen during the Thursday meeting as a citizen, Dee Didyk, not pictured, asked the council and the city attorney to investigate why the pictured council members voted during recent agenda items concerning the Orange Housing Authority and ITEX. According to Didyk, Mello has a monetary agreement with ITEX and should not have participated in a closed door meeting concerning the company. Didyk also said McKenna should not have voted on the projects due to a conflict of interest as McKenna, former chairperson of the Housing Authority Orange, worked hard to get ITEX to this point in the development projects. Didyk said that while the council members are good persons, they appear to have other interests.
