ORANGE — Food service businesses were given one year to be in compliance with the requirement for a Certified Food Manager certificate. The certification is good for five years and certifies the individual.

Orange County Environmental and Health Code Compliance in conjunction with the Orange County Texas AgriLife Extension to provide seven on-site classes for the certificate. The course is also available on-line. Businesses found to not be in compliance with the new regulations are given thirty days to become compliant such as Guadalajara located at 137 Strickland Drive in Orange. The restaurant received an 86 out of a possible 100 during a recent health code inspection. The establishment received demerits for cooling rice on top of the counter without ice, several dead and live roaches throughout and for not having a Certified Food Manager on staff.

Country Corner located at 1810 South Main Street in Vidor also has 30 days to become compliant with the new regulations leading to the store receiving a 90 out of a possible 100 during a recent inspection. Other demerits received are for the mold found inside the ice machine and the ice scoop laying on op of a box.

Posting the certificates is also required as Pizza Hut #2716 located at 1720 Lutcher Drive in Orange was informed during a recent Health code inspection. The business received a 97 out of a possible 100 due to mold found on the drink dispensers.

Papa John’s Pizza located at 2305 MacArthur Drive in Orange received a 93 score for storing raw onions on the floor of the walk-in cooler and storage racks used for storing clean dishes in need of repair due to rust.

Dollar General #11492 located at 2500 MLK Drive in Orange received a 97 for the need to clean the shelves inside the milk cooler.

The following locations had zero violations and received a perfect score of 100:

170 Strickland Drive in Orange.
