Government, business closures ahead for MLK Day

ORANGE — Government offices and local school districts in Orange County will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. holiday next Monday.

All non-emergency city offices in Orange, Vidor, Rose City and Pine Forest will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Each of these cities will resume normal hours of operation on Tuesday.

Offices in the cities of West Orange, Bridge City and Pinehurst will be open for business as normal on Monday.

For area residents who have garbage collection on Monday, collection is scheduled to run as normal.

All Orange County government offices, as well as state and federal offices, will be closed Monday in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Financial institutions such as BBVA Compass, Capital One, Sabine Federal Credit Union, MCT Credit Union and First Financial Bank.

Students in all Orange County school districts will be out of school on Monday, as it is a student holiday for West Orange-Cove CISD, Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD, Vidor ISD, Bridge City ISD and Orangefield ISD, as well as Lamar State College-Orange.

Monday is a teacher workday at the Bridge City, Little Cypress-Mauriceville, Vidor and Orangefield school districts. Employees of West Orange-Cove CISD and Lamar State College-Orange will have a work holiday.

Monday is a holiday for the U.S. Postal Service as well. Mail delivery will resume normal operation hours on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
