Schlitterbahn receives Certificate of Excellence for the second year in a row

GALVESTON — Schlitterbahn Galveston Island is having to clear room on its award shelf. Already the World’s Favorite Indoor Waterpark, Schlitterbahn Galveston Island received the 2012 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence award for the second year running.

Only 10 percent of hospitality businesses receive the prestigious accolade, which is based on reviews from guests.

The accolade, which honors hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews on TripAdvisor. Only the top 10 percent of hospitality businesses listed on TripAdvisor receive this prestigious award.  To qualify for the Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by travelers on TripAdvisor. Additional criteria include the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months.

"The Certificate of Excellence award provides top performing establishments the recognition they deserve, based on feedback from those who matter most – their customers," said Stephen Kaufer, president and CEO, TripAdvisor.

“TripAdvisor reviewers have high standards,” said Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark General Manager, Ron Sutula. “Exceeding those expectations for a second year in a row means a great deal to our team.”

Schlitterbahn Galveston Island is a 26 acre oasis of thrilling waterpark adventures including a Transportainment river system that combines three of the parks’ rivers into one endless floating adventure. One of two Schlitterbahn parks with a Heated Indoor Waterpark section for year round fun, the Galveston Island park packs in the fun for guests whatever the weather.
