LC-M CISD to hold public hearing to discuss campus improvements

LITTLE CYPRESS — Officials with Little Cypress-Mauriceville Consolidated Indepedent School District have recognized 30 to 60 year old buildings will not cut it in protecting students in the future.

This is why the district will hold a public information meeting regarding the conditions and needs of campuses at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18 at the high school library.

The district had a bond election in 2008 yet voters did not approve the measure.

“We have a lot of needs andthe age of our facilities is a big part of this meeting,” Greg Perry, assistant superintendent, said. “On top of all this is student security. A lot of our buildings are 30 to 60 years old and have buildings that are not connected. They are also not built for technology.”

Perry said the LC-M CISD board has not voted to have a May bond election and will not until after this meeting. The deadline to file for a May bond election is March 1.

“All our campuses will be involved if there is a bond election,” Perry said.

The financial impact of a bond on the distrcit and homeowner will also be shared at the public meeting.
