Filing period begins Wednesday for May general election


ORANGE — Vidor

The City of Vidor has the most candidates with terms expiring this year.

Seats open for filing include Mayor Ken Crawford, Lynda Courtney, Ward 1; Mallie Bickham, Ward 4; and Trey Haney, Ward 6.

Candidate packets are available at City Hall, 1395 N. Main in Vidor, from the city secretary or the payroll clerk.

Pine Forest

The City of Pine Forest, located north of Vidor, has three seats open for filing for the May 2013 election.

Terms are expiring for Mayor Joey Peno, and councilmen John Davis and Jason Dunwoody, Place 1 and Place 3, respectively.

Candidate applications are available from Lilith Sutherland, city secretary, at Pine Forest City Hall, 305 Nagel Street, during the hours of 9 a.m. - noon, and 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. - noon and 1 p.m. - 5 p.m., Friday.

Rose City

The City of Rose City has three seats set to expire this May.

Terms expiring include Mayor David Bush, and two at-large seats held by councilman and Mayor Pro-Tem Hernando Ramos and councilman Chad Landry.

People interested in obtaining an election packet may do so from the city secretary at City Hall, 370 Rose City Drive.

West Orange-Cove CISD

Four of the five school districts in Orange County could potentially have elections this May, as Orangefield ISD held its school board election this past November.

The West Orange-Cove Consolidated Independent School District has three at-large seats on the Board of Trustees up for election this May. These positions are currently held by Harry Barclay, Hardy O’Neal and Ricky Jacobs.

Candidate packets can be obtained by from Bonnie Tegge, the superintendent’s secretary, at the West Orange-Cove CISD Administration Building, 505 N. 15th St. in Orange.

Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD

Two positions on the LC-M CISD Board of Trustees have terms expiring this May. These seats are currently held by Rex Peveto and Jason Woods, Place 6 and Place 7, respectively.

People interested in running for a place on the May ballot may pick up an application packet at the LC-M CISD Administration Building, 6856 FM 1130 in Orange between the hours of 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
